Whistle Ink attends first business event!

April 4, 2008 at 9:40 am (Uncategorized) (, , , , )

Ok I took the plunge and went to our first business type event which was organised by the Tameside Business Family unit.

The main event was a talk by Andy ‘Cold Calling’ Preston. He’s a great guy that has given me some useful tips for when I decide to pick that phone up and tell businesses about Whistle Ink.

I was very nervous and so didn’t make full use of the buffet laid on (I will do next time though). I must also try and dress a bit smarter too. It was an informal event and I met some business people.

I haven’t quiet managed to pick the phone up yet, simply because I can’t find it…..

If you are doing cold calling or planning to check out the link above – there’s free tips to be had and if you are serious about it – Andy will be able to help you and your sales team.

If you are from Tameside check out the Tameside Business Family website and make sure you are listed in the directory, which is FREE!!

The guy from the Chamber of Commerce who I spoke to about signing up said ‘People buy from people’. I can see that it is probably true. I have taken the first step, getting out of my office!

Watch out Tameside!

Delivery Charges

March 31, 2008 at 6:00 pm (Uncategorized) (, )

Delivery charges is a sensitive issue.

How much is too expensive? Why you charge this much and they charge that much?

It’s swings and roundabouts really. Whistle Ink has very very low pricing on products and we charge for a delivery. We did think about increasing prices to cover for free / reduced delivery but thought that would then mean every single item contains a markup for delivery.

So if you order 10 items, each of those items will include an amount for delivery – might this equal more than if you paid separate for delivery?

Special Offers brochure coming out in April (that’s like very soon!)

March 31, 2008 at 5:56 pm (Uncategorized) (, , , )

Whistle Ink is going to be producing a special offers brochure listing great offers that your office might actually benefit and save money from.

The super saver which is printed on 100% recycled paper is planned to produced and distributed quarterly. Once you get your brochure on your desk, there is no need to rush and order as you have 3 months – plenty of time for when it comes to your next order round.

Having a quick sneak peak (well I am the boss) I can see offers on copier paper, laser and Avery labels, even desk fans (we hope it’s a very hot summer whether or not you cool down with Whistle Ink fans). We do also have the regular offers on envelopes, tape and pens!

There’s 660 product in this brochure. 660! There’s bound to be something for your office that you can order from.

Most of our existing business customers should be receiving one.

How do you order a copy?

Not everyone is going to get one! If you would like to request one click here

Everyone loves a bargain. We hunt them out outside of work, change shops to save a few pence or pounds. You can do it at work now and we’ve made it even more easier by plonking an exclusive brochure right on your desk!

One of the best places for Original HP inkjet and toner cartridges…

March 20, 2008 at 5:33 pm (C6656AE, HP, Ink Cartridges)

,,, is Whistle Ink of course. You knew that anyway.

Take a look at our homepage, and you will find a short listof 5 original HP inkjet cartridges and 5 original toner cartridges from HP. We have listed the prices and then compared them to Viking Direct and Staples.

As we can see we are normally cheaper. They are not special prices from us (as that would be too much work in the database!) to show that we are a good alternative to your regular suppliers.

Also these prices were taken very recently from the fellow office suppliers websites.

The question I normally ask is – does it matter if we are say a whopping £32.67 cheaper than Staples and similarly for Viking Direct for the HP C8061X Black Toner ?

For the price concious among us, which are the majority of Whistle Ink customers, as they come from referrals and search engines – it would be silly to go elsewhere other than us for this toner cartridge. But what about when there is say a £3 difference? Is this too small a saving?

At home you would probably say ‘wow £3 saving – I’m going there!’. It’s a different story at work we find.

For example on the HP Comparison table, Whistle Ink’s price for the HP 45 Large Black Inkjet is £2.88 cheaper than Viking Direct. Is this enough?

I guess it has to be weighed up – have we covered for this low price elsewhere? Or is it a case other suppliers have better pricing on other things?

It might be worth looking at the delivery price issue…..

Suppliers increase the price of paper!

December 9, 2007 at 1:39 pm (Uncategorized) (, , , , )

We have heard from our supplier that they are increasing the price of paper. Mills are working to full capacity to produce the office laser copier paper we print on. Here are just a few ideas on how cut down on printing and copying.

1) Can you switch your fax number to receive all faxes via email as an attachment? Service like these exist already, and we at Whistle Ink already are using this. We have a land-line number that we can fax with also, but a separate fax local fax number that, when a fax is sent to it, the fax data is converted to a Picture file attachment! Thankfully we don’t get adverts through offering personalised overalls or cheap business car rental!

2) Printing double sided can save alot of paper, and does not really detract from a professional looking document. Most printers and copier today offer duplex as standard, or you can do it manually. Take advantage of this.

For meetings and presentations, giving hand outs, can mean that while essential, this information becomes redundant after the meeting. Printing double sided paper will reduce the amount that needs to be recycled.

3) Do you need to print at all?

Can the information displayed or distributed or stored in another format? PDF attachment, power point presentation, CD / DVD?

Do you have any good habits to share? What are your thoughts on how to cut down paper use? Let us know!

RRP – Save 80% – Wow! Crazy! Fab!

November 30, 2007 at 10:50 am (Stationery) (, , , , , )

You have probably seen these ridiculous savings on ink and stationery or office supplies websites. They say the RRP for a packet of Post-it Notes is say £15.00 but you can have it for £10.00. Can you really believe that?

I believe that the RRP are put there, sky high, in order to make the real selling price look better and more of a bargain even though it may actually be not!

Don’t be fooled!

When our new site is launched selling the full range of office supplies you may see these RRP. Just look at out real selling price and you will find that from pens to paper and post-it notes, you will be able to buy at a very reasonable price!
